Kendal Street Choir 2017

We attended our second street choir festival in Kendal 23rd to 25th of June 2017, we’d  been to Whitby in 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed that.

It was a hectic weekend;

On Friday night we were treated to a concert where we were entertained by Lakeside Voices, K-Shoes male voice choir and Ottovoce women’s ensemble all three choirs were so polished.  The star turn  was Coope, Boyes and Simpson they were amazing.

On Saturday morning 39 choirs (900 people) rehearsed the songs for the mass sing. the sound was glorious!  Then on Saturday lunchtime we were greeted by the mayor of Kendal followed by the mass sing outside the Brewery Centre.

On Saturday afternoon all the choirs busked at various street locations in Kendal. The day was finished in the concert hall with each choir performing a short set. We sang Pokare, Parting Glass and Tourdion. We then joined Lorraines other two choirs  Otley Singers and Leeds Peoples Choir to sing Viva la Vida.

On Sunday morning we went to various workshops all interesting fun and informative.  The festival finished with a  a mass picnic in Gooserholm park, we were in awe of our hosts providing a packed lunch for 900. The sun shone at this point it was beautiful by the river. Kendal is a pretty town.
