Manchester Annual Choral Competition
On Sunday 3rd March 2024, 85 members of the choir headed off to Manchester to take part in the prestigious Manchester Amateur Choral Competition (MACC) at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). We had a wonderful day, everybody sang their hearts out. We sang a beautiful set of Whitney Houston songs as a tribute to her work. The whole choir, under the superb direction of Craig Antony Lees, had worked very hard to prepare for the big day.
Now the big news – even though the calibre of the 14 other choirs taking part was amazing with Barbershop, Children’s choirs, Chamber choirs, Acapella choirs and Community choirs we were delighted when they announced the winners at the end that we were called out first to receive the runners up trophy. What a complete surprise; there was much glee from the choir, clapping and shrieking etc. What a wonderful moment for us all in front of such a huge audience. Below are the links to the three songs we sang.
On Sunday the 1st of February 2026 we will take part in the Manchester Annual Choral Competition for the second time we are very excited to be entering again.

Our last performance of 2024 was at Holy Trinity Church, Gracious Street, Knaresborough on 19th December. This year we raised the wonderful sum of £1349 for Henshaw’s Arts and Crafts. We now look forward to 2025 and all the wonderful events we have organised.
A huge well done to you all, you sounded amazing and looked fantastic too. Naughty John managed to do a sneaky little recording of us from up in the Dress Circle.
A special thanks to Craig who had a puncture on the way to tonight’s performance but still arrived in good time, looking so smart, to lead us with his usual finesse. Thanks too to Holly who did an an amazing job at her first ever performance with KnAC.
